Minerals
1. Naturally Formed Minerals are formed through natural processes in the earth. Some of the natural processes are volcanic eruptions, precipitation of a slolid out of a liquid, and weathering of pre-existing minerals. Synthetic substances are not considered minerals.
3. Formed by inorganic processes Substances that were once living have to have their living tissues replaced by inorganic materials to be formed inorganically. Fossils are made this way.
2. Solid Minerals have a characteristic crystal structure. Gases and Liquid are not considered a mineral because they do not keep a constant form.
4 .ave specific chemical composition Minerals that are found in the earth are shown through there chemical formula.
5. Minerals have a characteristic crystal structure Atoms make up the shape of the crystal structure. The outside crystal structure reflects the repeating internal makeup.
