The comedy culture was once only for adults and child friendly jokes were not seen as being very entertaining. the introduction of comedy for the masses came with the introduction of comedy duos such as morecambe and wise and the two ronnies. These comedians were instrumental in introducing the comedy world to families. They would all sit down together on a saturday night and watch the shows together. This soon became part of the culture and the children would look forward to sitting and spending time with their family.
The History of Comedy
Over the years there have been many social, cultural and political changes as to what is acceptable in comedy. a lot of comedians used to make racist jokes and jokes about people with something that made them different from the majority such as a disability. there are now certain rules about the types of jokes that comedians can tell and anything that might be offensive is not allowed.
