What is RTI? Respone To Intervention (RTI) is generally understood to be an evidence-based approach to providing early intervention to struggling learners in general education and special education settings (Georgia Department of Education, 2008).
How can the Media Center support RTI?
RTI is broken down into Tiers * Tier 1 is the general student population. Intervention happens at the classroom level with the teacher introducing strategies to help struggling students * Tier 2 level has a struggling student receiving specific interventions/strategies tailored for the individual * Tier 3 goes into effect when a student has not responded to the interventions provided in Tier 2. This is your typical Special Education model and students are tested to see if they qualify for an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) (Wanzek & Vaughn, 2008)
