Tragedy- a dramatic composition, often in verse, dealing with a serious or somber theme, typically that of a great person destined through a flaw of character or conflict with some overpowering force, as fate or society, to downfall or destruction.
Tragic Hero- a literary character who makes an error of judgment or has a fatal flaw that, combined with fate and external forces, brings on a tragedy
Tragic Hero Characteristics -Someone of great or noble stature such as a King or Knight -They have a tragic flaw, usually having to do with an obsession, that causes thier downfall -They cause the events lead to their death or downfall, its not just a string of unusual events -There is often an abnormal state of mind in the tragic hero and things having to do with the supernatural -The hero at some point has an internal struggle -They realize their tragic flaw to late and can not stop their fate from coming -They provoke sympathy from the reader, which makes their downfall seem worse
