J.D. Salinger, or Jerome David Salinger, was born January 1, 1919, in New York City and he is still alive today.
For education he went to Valley Forge Military Academy, Wayne, PA, for high school, New York University, Ursinus College, and Columbia University, for college.
In 1951 his book Catcher in the Rye, became an instant hit, when the Book-of-the-Month Club chose it as their main selection. His List of work are, The Catcher in the Rye (1951, novel), Nine Stories (1953, stories), Franny and Zooey (1961, short stories), Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters / Seymour, An Introduction (1963).
