Plot In the summer of the Late rose, the peaceful mice of Mossflower Wood gather in Redwall Abbey to celebrate a time of harmony and prosperity. But their peace is disrupted by the treacherous one-eyed rat: Cluny the Scourge! With Cluny vowing to conquer the abbey, victory can only be reassured if our young hero, Matthais, can retrieve the legendary sword of Martin the Warrior. This action-packed novel ends with Matthais sucessfully retrieveing the sword of Martin the warrior and saving Redwall Abbey from the wrath of Cluny the Scourge.

How I found the book This book is one of the best books I have ever read. I really enjoyed the book because the story is full of action and adventure. The author, Brian Jacques, has really outdone himself and really brought the whole story to life. My favourite part of the book is when Matthais fights against Cluny to save the abbey because I really enjoyed the description of the slashes and the swift movements of the swords. My favourite character, of course, is Matthais because he is one of the bravest warrior mice I have ever read about.

Characters Matthias He is the hero of this book. he starts off as a young novice to the Abbey expected to vecome a peace-loving monk. But Matthias always had the spirit of a warrior. He dreams of becoming a warrior like Martin the warrior, the co-founder of Redwall Abbey. Cornflower She is the wife of Matthias and is one of the creatures who are usually are very peaceloving but when roused, could be very dangerous. she shows her brevery in this book by fending off one of Cluny's attack by merely throwing a lantern onto a siege tower and burning it. Cluny the scourge Cluny is the antagonist of the story. He wore a cloak made of batwings that was fastened at his throat with the skull of a mole. His war helmet was adorned with blackbird feathers and stag beetle horns He vowed to take over the Abbey. His wishes first came true but fell apart on the return of Matthais, who slew him by severing the rope which held the joseph bell. Methuselah He was Matthias' adviser and friend. He was the who worked together to solve the riddle hidden behind the tapestry of Martin the Warrior. Constance She is Redwall Abbey's badgermother in this book. She made a giant yew crossbow, which she fired at Cheesethief, whom she mistook for Cluny. Basil Stag Hare He was the camoflouge expert whos taught Matthias to become undetected while rescuing the Vole family. He also cooperated with Jess Squirrel to rescue the tapestry of Martin the Warrior Jess Squirrel She co-operated with Basil Stag Hare to rescue the tapestry of Martin the warrior. she also scaled the abbey roof to retrieve the sword of Martin the warrior, only to be attacked by sparrows and finding that the sword has been stolen!
