Beginning July 1, 2010, The Schools of St. Benedict will become St. Benedict Preparatory Schools in order to deliver high-quality Catholic college preparatory education in Chicago. St. Benedict Preparatory Schools will coordinate all resources (staff, facilities, community and funding) to deliver a rigorous college preparatory education beginning prior to the traditional freshman year. St. Benedict Preparatory Schools will be an academically challenging school that integrates faith-formation, technology and critical/creative thinking to develop Catholic leadership skills necessary for college and beyond. There will be a realignment of faculty and staff to ensure an efficient, yet financially viable Catholic PK-12 school. The entire school administration will be overseen by a chief executive officer or CEO. The CEO will have a staff of 6 administrators/directors with delegated responsibilities managing the school’s specific programs: 1) Preschool 2) Elementary (Kindergarten – Grade 5) 3) Secondary (Grades 6 – 12) 4) Technology 5) Athletics 6) Mission Advancement The schools will be reorganized into three main programs as listed above in numbers 1-3. The “college prep” initiative will begin in 6th grade to prepare students for an academically rigorous high school program.
