Rome
Antiochus another greek man laned his army landed his army on the greek mainland in order to free the Greeks from the Romans cluches however he was driven away and his army fell. After the army fell the Romans penalized Antiochus and said that all Greek city states would remain free which they would pose no threat to Rome. Rome sopn fe;lt as if they were the protecters of Greece because they would preventany central power of rising that might threaten there security. When Phillip of Greece died Persus took over and roused up democratic passions. When Rome invaded Greece this time it was referred to as the Third M acedonian War. This war was different then all the others though Rome didn't get any territory over it instead they made allies to prevent any revolountiary fervor. They learned by having control that states would remian loyal to Rome if it was sure, swift and also harsh.
By this time the Roman empire had been accomplished. They responded to threats immediately and the result was an accidental empire. The big key was the defeat of Persus. Also the publicani had been increasing taxes and this made romans as well wealthy. By the second century Rome was a money making machoine, the Roman Empire had shifted into high gear. However the occurence of this made tensions between the classes the republic would be in crisis for the next 100 years which would rule in favor of a dictatorship.
The reasons they say for Romes fall is because of Christianity. The reason they say this is because alot of people duringt this time became pacifist and it made it difficult to prevent attacks from barbian attackers. They say that because of Christiany that the Roman declines of vaules and some morals. this i s what prolonged the imperial era. Other reasons for the fall of Rome was because of the decline in morals and vaules meaning that alot of the romans were using there vaules on stuff they really didnt have to such as parties drinking and going to the collesium to watch soilders fight with each other. Another is public health this meaning that alot of people were dieing of dieases due to all the dead bodies being around and the increase of alcohol. Another reason is because of pollitical corruption meaning they had trouble choosing an emperor. Also unemployment was a big problem as well. There was also inflation, urban decay, inferior technology, and military spending. The main thing was when they left the Roman border open and it was attacked by the Germans
FALL OF GREECE AND ROME
The reasons Greece fell to Rome was because Rome became suspicious with empire building after fighting with Phillip during the 2nd Punic War. Greece was trying to expand and when Rome told them not to they didn't listen after this took place Rome decided to create a stronger army and go to war with Phillip of Greece and this began the Second Macedonian War. Unfortunately for Phillip he was defeated by Flaminus in three years and the following year declared all Greek cities free.
DARK AGES The way the dark ages became was because both the fall of Greece and Rome. I think that since both great civilizations fell, after that no one could bring a civilization back to the point that both civilizations were at and that no one would be able to build their civilization up after they saw two great civilizations of caliber fall.
Some great aspects that came from Greece: Olympic games are still participated in every 4 years switching between winter and summer, the same type of architecture is used in important buildings and theatres are still a form of entertainment and today we perform plays and also have Broadway shows.
Some great aspects that came from Greece and Rome: The Roman form of government is still used today, where the people have a say also Roman numerals can be seen in a lot of important documents and also Roman bathhouses are seen today which are known as spas.
