FRESNEL LENSES
Fresnel lenses actually look like a flat-on-one-side convex lens (or a Plano-Convex) exception being that there are concentric rings on its convexed side. Thes rings decrease in thickness form each toher and work as prism. Thec canter part of the curved side is actually left as a convex. These components are used to refract light so that when the light source hits the concentrive rings as well as the convex, all the light is refracted towards one direction and thel ight will have been multiplied in size. Most Fresnel lenses are made by assembling parts in perfect angular arrangement to ensure the desired refraction.
Fresnel lenses were first These enses invented by Jean Fresnel. However unlike other lenses, the Fresnel lense is much thinner and larger. This then allows it to catch more light.
Fresnel lenses in particular are made so that they have short focal points. Thsi is the reason why the light source is immediately magnified and it is used in headlights and other everyday objects.
Because Fresnel Lights are good at magnifying and directing light, it is often used in car lights and stage/spot lights as straight light projection is needed in particular for the purpose of these objacts.
