What is the relationship between plot theme and character?
The relationship between plot, theme, and character is very complex. They all are interdependent and would fail to exist without each other. An example of this is the connection between plot and character. The plot, and the events that occur, define characters. But plot is dependent on characters because if the character changes, or has different traits, then the plot is altered. Yet both plot and characters define theme. If the characters learn through events that friendship is important then the theme is friendship. However if the theme changes from friendship to survival, then the plot would change and so would the characters. So in a nutshell, they are all completely dependent on each other. If one changes, all of them change. It is like the solar system. If one planet or one star moves or changes course, everything else would have to adapt and change with it for the big picture to make sense. :)
