DEDICATD TO MY INSPIRATION, MY HERO, MY UNCLE; ROBERT W. CRUMP Although you passed when I was very young, there is still a little I remember about you. I can’t find any pictures of you to put in this little memorial I am making for you, but I know you will like it. Anyway, you gave me a dream to be a fire fighter. I want to help people as you have helped your family, myself, and many other people. After you passed my ambitious dream to live the life of a fire fighter became stronger. Like your spirit had entered my heart and mind. I was starting fourth grade around the same time you passed. In fifth grade the teacher asked what we wanted to be when we grew up. Some kids said scientists, others veterinarians, so many great professions. When it was my turn I said I want to be a fire fighter. The teacher laughed and the kids teased me, saying that’s no job for a girlie book worm. I hushed up about my dream for a while. But I never forgot it. A couple years ago I started expressing my dream and how I wanted to pursue it. So I went to a summer camp for young girls who wanted to become fire fighters. I was only 15 in these pictures but some say I look just like you and that you would be proud. And I know you are. I mean, I’m claustrophobic and afraid of heights. But I faced it and I squeezed into tight places and even though I was blinded by the smoke I stuck with it. And I climbed the aerial ladder up 109 feet. All the way to the top! I was scared out of my mind. But seeing how bad I want this I faced it. And I conquered fears I didn’t think were possible. I graduated the summer camp called Summer Heat. I even met your EMT trainer. He was very nice and he told be good things about you. I wish you could have been there to see me accomplish what others said I could not. Then I realized you were there with me the whole time. Bonded as soul mind and heart. Your courageous doings will continue to live on through me as I am called in the line of duty. I never had the chance to tell you, but you are the wind beneath my wings, helping reach my dreams. You live in my heart, my actions, and my life. Always have, always will. I love you so much and miss you tons. See you later.
