Eggstravaganza
In the "Egg Drop Eggstravaganza" we (as students) were required to create an egg case that would protect the egg from cracking. We could increase the time of impact, or decrease the force of impact by the way we designed our case. If the egg case were to be created properly it would do just that. Depending on the way the egg case was made we had to increase or decrease the force of impact. The mass (the measure of inertia) and velocity (speed) had to be the same to show that all egg cases had the same momentum (mass time velocity). (SCROLL) Also, the egg had to be dropped from the same distance, for all cases had to have the same impulse.
When all the cases hit the ground they all had the same change in velocity because all the cases had the same mass and velocity, therefore, the same momentum. So when we let our cases go at the same time they all had the same change in momentum when they hit the ground. Also, we all had the same impulse (force and time interval during which a force acts) and when our eggs hit the ground they had the same impulse. The ground was the force that acted on the egg cases, which caussed some of the eggs to brake . But it all depended on how well we (as students) created our case. (SCROLL) As you can see in the picture above my egg broke because I did not create my case appropriately to increase the time of impact or decrease the force as my case hit the ground.
My egg case consisted of a large shoe box and within it was a smaller shoe boxs. The smaller shoe box was held in place by rubber bands and paper clips. Also, it contained a circular compartment which would hold the egg. I added rubber bands and paper clips to give the circular compartment some room to bounce, and lastly, (SCROLL) I added clay pieces to make the case equal the recommended weight.
In this video, a few, boys are having an egg drop contest. Many of their designs were created with light material. They used paper and cut out designs that would slow the acceleration of the egg case as it hit the ground. As you watch you will see that the egg case designs with the most openings will slow down acceleration which will protect the egg. (SCROLL) One of the designs failed to slow acceleration causing the egg to brake.

The change in momentum in a punch may be damaging to a boxer. If you ride with the punch , like in this picture, the time of impact will increase. (SCROLL) Riding with the punch also reduced the force of impact. Yet if the Boxer moves toward the punch the time of impact is reduced and the force is increased,
When jumping up and down, as usual, the knees would be bent when the feet touch the ground. When you bend the knees as you hit the ground it would lengthen the impulse and momentum would decreases.
