Chapter 22- Slaughter in the Hall
Athena is the goddess of wisdom and strategy. She is looked up to by the Greek because she is not known as an immortal in most Greek myths. She is the daughter of Zeus and his first wife, Metis.
In this chapter we find Oddysseus . He quickly starts a fight and a dramatic scene to kill Antinous , which people at first thought it was an accident . Earlier, when all the others were locked by Telemachus and Eumaeus , he had promised to treat them as sons if they helped; the suitors are doomed. Penelopes challenge to the suitors was for them to string and shoot Oddysseus' bow . To add more to the crazyness Athena shows up as a Minotaur . She does not join in right away but gives Oddysseus perserverence.. When she engages in the battle, it is quickly finished . When the battle is over , Oddysseus retrieves the enemy women and has them clean up the dead bodies . Later he had the women executed . Telemachus and Oddyseus argued on how to kill them ; Oddyseus wanted them to be stabbed to death , but Telemauchus wanted them to be hung because it was a disgraceful death . The Minotaur is a mythical creature that had the head of a bull and the body of a man . dictionary.com describes it as any person or living thing that devours or destroys objects or people.
