Ancient Rome
This is the roman forum. It was the center of trade and commerce. It was also where the Roman courts of justice were held.
This is a painting of what Rome might have looked like back in 314 AD.
Ancient rome was first ruled by seven different kings. Then it became a republic ruled by the senate who appointed a consul to rule like a king, but only for one year.
The social classes in ancient Rome were split into two, upper class and lower class. senators were the highest and then the equestrians. Equestrians were the very wealthy people and Senators were related to politics. In the lower class there were commons, freedpeople, and then slaves.
SPQR stands for Senatus Populusque Romanus which means the Senate and the people of Rome.
All Roads Lead to Rome This means that there are many ways to do things. This saying comes from the Roman's vast road networks. there was around 50,000 miles of roads so you could get around Rome many different ways.
