- Born on December 16, 1485 to Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain. -First marriage was to Arthur, Prince of Wales. - He died very soon after they were married, so Katherine was betrothed to his younger brother Henry VIII. - Katherine claimed that her marriage with Arthur was never consummated, so that she would be able to marry again. - By the time Henry was old enough to be married, King Henry VII wasn't as interested in a Spanish alliance. - King Henry VII died, and Henry VIII became King of England. - One of the first things he did as the king was marry Katherine, so she was now the Queen of England. - Katherine was an ideal queen, and supported her husband alot. - She had many children who died soon after birth, but she had one daughter that lived, Mary. - Henry was very frustrated that Katherine couldn't produce a male heir to the throne. - Henry fell in love with Anne Boleyn, and wanted to be married to her, not Katherine. - Henry tried to get the pope to annul their marriage, but he wouldn't. So, he had to get the archbishop of Canterbury to do it. Their marriage was officially annuled on March 30, 1534. - Katherine lost her title as the Queenof England, and was now just called Princess Dowager of Wales. - She died on January 7, 1536 at Kimbolton.
