What is the reason for seasons?
By: Katie O.
In the image to the left, the Earth is revolving around the sun. As the Earth revolves around the sun, it is rotating about its own axis. The Earth is also slightly tilted on its own internal axis.

As the Earth makes its revolution around the sun, different hemispheres recieve different amounts of sunlight. So, the hemisphere recieving the more direct rays from the sun is experiencing summer. The hemisphere recieving indirect rays is experiencing winter.
Alot of people think that seasons occur because of how close or far the Earth is from the sun during it's revolution. This is completely false! Seasons actually occur because of a different reason.
