Veges Changing Colour
Test Tubes filled with Rhubarb and Beetroot Juice.
Our Aim is to test Rhubarb, Beetroot, and Hydrangea to see what colour it changes when mixed with Acid, Alkali, and Neutral.
STEP ONE: We mashed the veges up.
STEP TWO: We tipped the vege juice into different Test Tubes.
STEP THREE: We put a drop of Acid into one of the three, a drop of Neutral into the next, and a drop of Alkali into the last.
STEP FOUR: We mixed it around, than checked if it had changed colour
STEP FIVE: We wrote down the results of the experiment
STEP SIX: Evaluate!
Plant we used: Colur when with Acid: Colour when with Alkali: Colour when with Neutral: Beetroot Pink Yellow Purple - No Change Rhubarb Murky White Light Brown Light Green - No Change Hydrangea Very light Brown Light Greenish-Yellowish Green - No Change
Some Beetroot being mashed up
I think that with this experiment, it was about even. Beetroot was good when testing for Alkali, but not so good when testing for Acid. Rhubarb was okay for both, and Hydrangea was better when testing for Acid, not Alkali. It just depends on what you want to test for.
