We were in 3rd grade, just got to daycare after school, Pam had the news on and asked me to wait by the door, she said grandma was taking me home today and that she would be here soon. "Pam? Why are you crying?" I asked. "I am not the one to tell you, go wait for your grandma." She replied. I waited for all of 5 minutes when grandma showed up in the driveway. I told Pam she was here, and opened the door and went to my grandma's car. Grandma openend the door, and in her little voice said "Hello Angel" (that's her name for me). I was all of a sudden very excited. "Grandma! Mommy and Daddy are going to be home today! (they were on vacation). "Actually Katie" she said, "Mommy and Daddy won't ever be home" "WHAT? WHY?!?!" I asked. "They got in an airplane crash when they were coming home." She started to cry. "Why?" "Because some very bad people don't like our country." She replied. "Does Nathan know?" (my little brother). "No. He is with papa at our house. You 2 are to live with me and papa now, we will go to your house and pack up all of your's and Nathan's things, then we will go home." "NO! NO! NO! I want to go to MY house! I want to wait for mommy and daddy!" I got out of grandma's car and ran across town to my house. 10 minutes later, I heard the door open and close. "Mommy? Daddy?" I asked. "No" Pam replied. "Where is my mommy, I want my MOMMY! "Katie, your mommy is in a much, much better place now, now sit up. Do you think she would want you to cry? I don't think she would, I think she would want you to listen to your grandma, you had better go out and say you're sorry to your grandma now. She is sad that you yelled at her like that. Now, she is sad to, your mom is her daughter, now think about that, she just lost her daughter! She's just as sad as you." "Yeah, but" "No buts, I know that you are very sad, but your daddy doesn't like it when you cry, so don't cry, ok?" "ok"
