September 7, 1965 Dear Sarah, I am no longer the Camp Guard, They have told me I am now to fight next to everybody else. 1 of my close friends was killed today, I am hoping that they let us leave Vietnam in the next 2 months like they told us. It rained for 10 hours straight today, and just our luck, today was the goriest day i have ever seen, I am writing you this from the hospital, but don't be worried, I was only wounded in the leg, but the Doctor says it could get alot worse if the nurses don't kepp a close eye on it. I told 1 of the nurses, if my leg gets infected and it does spread to the rest of my body, and I loose all life to send this to you right away. So if you got this letter it means I will not be coming home in the next
So if you got this letter it means I will not be coming home in the next 2 months, or the next 2 years, it means I'm in a greater place, where soldiers like me who payed the greatest price possible for their country are to rest in peace for eternity. Remember Sarah, I love you, and I always will. Love always, Ross
