I have attended Bigstuf camp in Panama City, Florida every year for the past three years. Bigstuf is a nondenominational Christian camp and the week of Bigstuf is always my favorite week of the year. I go to Bitstuf with my cousin's church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and because of this camp I have made some everlasting friendships. The picture to the right is the group of kids that went this past year, and they are really something else. I was surprised at how easy they accepted me and my brother since we did not know anyone our first time. Right away we made friends and memories that will never leave.
Each year Bigstuf has a new theme, and this past year the theme was Time. We sing songs that incorporate Time, and every morning and night we heard about how Time relates to Christ. After every year i always feel my faith grow stronger because of the power of the songs and te meanings behind the sessions. Everyone in the room shares the same beliefes and everyone in the room is praising God right alongside you. Another important aspect of Bigstuf is the poverty in Kenya. Every year they fly in a childrens chior from Kenya to sing for us and we learn about their lives in poverty. This really affected me because we take so many things for granted. After two years of hearing how bad their lives are I decided to do something about it. With the help of my dad and my community I was able to raise $600 dollars to sponsor a nine year old boy, Jordan Ochieng. This money goes to him and his family and pays for food, water, education, and the basic needs for a desent life. Bigstuf not only helped me make everlasting friendships and memories, but it also brought me closer to my faith and helped me to realize how great it is to make a difference in someone's life.
