Primus, My name is Trey Parker and I currently have been asked to produce my own show along with Matt Stone. Throughout college both of us have been creating short films at the University of Colorado. We won a few student awards for our films, and it seems as though we were the only students that don’t want to make black-and-white films about lesbians. Maybe that’s why we’ve become more successful film creators then our fellow students have become. Anyways, our first big film was called Cannibal: The Musical. This film pretty much sums up how our films are produced. Cannibal is based off the tragic nineteenth-century gold-seeking expedition in which five of the six men died. In our musical the explorers that were found dead had evidence of cannibalism. The only remaining explorer, Alfred Packer, was convicted of the crime. We turned this tragedy from something grim and historical into a gay musical that is offensive and hilarious. That’s how we do our business. Recently, we’ve been offered an executive position at comedy Central to create our show. With every great show there comes an even greater theme song. Stone and I have been huge fans of yours for years, and we would absolutely be ecstatic if you guys would come play our theme song for us. Let me know what you think and if you’re interested! Thanks, Trey Parker
The Multi-Genre Project was really the last test to see growth in the creativity in our writing. There was such a wide range of possibilities when it came to this project, that it all boils down to how much imagination and originality you can come up with. The hardest part with this project was choosing who I wanted to write so many creative pieces about. I would think of someone interesting, then I would try to think about what I would write about them, and my mind would go blank. When choosing someone for this project it couldn't be someone you could get bored of easily. After choosing Trey Parker there was no doubt in my mind I would be able to write creative pieces about him, after all he has a pretty unique character. What made this project so different then the rest was that this project didn't focus on your writing skills, but instead focused on how much you could strentch and broaden your imagination and creativity. That's why this project was my favorite all year. Here is one of the pieces I wrote about Trey Parker. This is a letter written from Trey Parker to his favorite band, Primus, asking them to perform the theme song for their new hit show, Show Park. The letter describes Parker's life and how he landed a show on comedy central, becoming a world famous comedian.
