Italy 2009 Spring Break!
For spring break 2009 my family and I went on a vacation to Italy. We went with my cousin Jackson and stayed the week in various parts of Europe. For the most part was stayed in Florence; however, for a night we stayed in a Villa on the country side, then went and stayed in Rome for a couple of days to see the Vaticant. Visiting Italy gave me a whole new perspective on art, culture, and architecture. We saw Michelangelo's David, the Sistine chapel, numerous Churchs, including Saint Peter's basilica, and many other breath taking pieces of art.
Along with the amazing pieces of art, Italy had the best gelato. After every lunch we would always try a new gelato shop and ate a new flavor. My mom and I figured that with all the walking we did we deserved some gelato. The gelato was amazing, and so was the other food we had. I must say that the rumors about Italy having the best pizza and pasta is 100% true. Everything in Italy was amazing; however, there was one bad side effect from this trip. After going to Italy I have always hated to fly on a plane. The plane ride was about 12 hours and it was boring. Plane rides have never scared me, and in fact, I always enjoyed the occasional two hour flight to Michigan to visit my sister. However, the plane ride was so boring, and the plane foor was so bad that ever since then flying has been on the bottom of my priority list. While visiting Italy I was also able to reconnect with my family. During the school year everyone is so busy doing their own thing with school and clubs that we never get to spend much time together. In Italy, all we did was reconnect and strengthen our family bond.
