Chapter 4 of freakonomics Levitts speaks about the major plunge in the crime rate and what cause this decrease. Levitt believe that there were three key aspect that contributed to the drop off of crimes.
Levitt believes that due to these factors amplified reliance on prisons, enlarged amount of police, and adapted in unlawful drug marketplace crimes decreased rapidly. Then at the ending of the chapter he started to discuss abortion and how he feels about it.
The end of the Chapter he talks about the outcome of officially recognized abortion. More than one half of the fall of crime is due to the validation of abortion in 1973. He explains that cause of the statistical investigation; his center of attention on the individuality of criminals, the raise in number of abortions subsequent to its confirmation, and the distinctiveness of those females most liable to get an abortion.
