Is personal integrity more important then survival?
''Because it is my name! Because I can not have another in my life!''
''A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.'' -Ghandi
My poster shows a picture of John Proctor because he would anwser this question with a yes. He had the chance to confess to witchcraft and save himself but he did not want to know himself as a liar and take the easy way out. He would rather be hung then lose his dignity and give in to the horrible system the court had going. When asked why he could not sign his name he replied with the quote on the left. He did not want to give up his name, the one peice of dignity he had left. I also have a picture and quote from Ghandi on here because he would anwser yes to this question as well. He risked his life all of the time standing up for what he believed in and preeching it to others. In his quote he is saying the same thing John Proctor was, He would not give a yes just to please the court and avoid hanging, for he knew it wasn't right.
