Hypothesis The plant in the sun is going to grow the best because the sunlight is a food source to a Brussels Sprout plant.
Brussels Sprout Growth In Sunlight, Artificial Light and Darkness By: Kaylea Hertel
Purpose The purpose of the experiment is to see if a Brussels Sprout plant will grow better in the sunlight, darkness, or the artificial light.
Procedures You must take the cartons and put them on a concrete sidewalk or a table if you like. You must take the potting soil and put three tablespoons of soil in each carton square. Take your pinky and make a small hole for the seed to be placed in and place a seed in every carton square (but just one seed per square). After you do that you must take a little bit of potting soil but not too much or to little just enough to cover the seed and put it over the hole. Once you have done that to all the carton squares take two teaspoons of water and water each of the squares. After you water all the carton squares you will take each carton you will have three of because you are doing the experiment three times and put them on their trays. Put any one you want but just one in a closet or a dark room with no light at any time of the day. Then take another carton and put it in a room with artificial light all the time. Last you will take the last plant carton and put it out side like a regular plant and leave it in the same spot.
OUTLINE The purpose of the experiment is to see if the plant can grow in the sunlight, the artificial light, or the darkness. In order to see if the experiment will work the experiment will be repeated 10 times. The dependent variable is going to be growth. The experiment will show what lighting is best for the plant. The independent variable is sunlight the experiment will show if a plant can grow in the sunlight. By planting in the sun the experiment will see if the direct light will help the plant grow faster. The other independent variable is artificial light. The experiment will see if a plant will grow in artificial light. By planting in artificial light the experiment will see if this will affect the growth of the plant. The last independent variable is darkness. The experiment will see if a plant will grow in the dark. By planting in the dark the experiment will show if the darkness will allow my plant to grow at all. The conclusion will be to see if the facts on sunlight are correct. I believe that the one in the sunlight will grow better because most of the time a plant grows better in sun light.

CONCLUSION My conclusion is that the hypothesis was correct that the Brussels Sprout plant would grow better because it uses the sun as a food resource. The one in the dark does not have sun. The one in the artificial light does not have sun either. The reason for the growth of the artificial light plant is that the plant is feeding off of the rays and warmth (like the sun) like it would do if it were in the sun. Therefore my experiment is complete.
ABSTRACT The purpose of the experiment was to determine if a plant would grow faster in sunlight, artificial light, or in darkness while still providing water to the plants daily. One was placed outside; another was place inside and one was placed in a dark closet. The hypothesized earlier in the experiment was that the one outside with the sunlight would grow faster. The research proved that the one outside would grow better because the plant needs sunlight as a food source. The procedures taken, first you must take the cartons and fill tem with about three tablespoons of potting soil. Then make a small hole in the center of the soil and place a seed in each soil filled carton square. Then take just enough potting soil to cover the seed. Once you have done that to all the filled squares take two teaspoons of water and water each filled square. After watering each filled carton place on a plastic liner. One filled tray was placed in the closet, one on the counter and one outside. Once the above was completed the cartons were check on and watered daily. The conclusion of my project was that my hypothesis was correct. Having Brussels sprouts in the sunlight really the best for them to grow. The reason for this is that the carton 1 grew 5m. Carton 2 grew 2m. Carton 3 grew 0m. Showing that the one in the sunlight grew the best.
