Joseph Lister is mainly Known for making the use of anti-septics common in the OR. He is also well known for making surgeons wear gloves and for the product named after him, Listerine.
I think that Joseph Lister's contributions to madern medicine are very important. Without the use of anti-sepitics wounds and areas that have been operated on are much more prone to infection. Also by making his surgeons wear medical gloves hedecreased the liklyhood that his surgeons would inadvertantly infect the patiant they were opperating on.
