Poseidon : The Sea God
Poseidon was a leading member of the Greek pantheon. The son of Kronos and Rhea, and the brother of Zeus and Hades, Poseidon was the ruler of the waves, a sea god known for his attacks of furious rage. He rode the sea in a chariot pulled by splendid golden sea-horses. In his hands was a mighty trident, an extremely powerful weapon used for stirring waters to form powerful storms.
Posiedon's wife was the sea goddess Amphitrite, a granddaughter of the Titan, Oceanus. Poseidon was particularly feared as the bringer of earthquakes. In consequence, ''the earth-shaker'' received generous offerings from cities and people. The Romans identified Poseidon with Neptune, an Italian water god.
His weapon is a powerful trident, which can shake the earth, and shatter any object. He is second only to Zeus in power amongst the gods. He had a difficult stubborn personality., and he was greedy. He had a series of arg with other gods when he tried to take over their cities.
