The Silk Road:
The conditions of travelers and merchants: Most of this trade route passed through deserts or mountains making the travel difficult and dangerous. The travelers on the Silk Road usually traveled in caravans and made their way from one desert oasis to the next. Since these conditions were so difficult, early traders were unable to travel the entire length; they would have to travel a certain distance then trade their goods at a trading post or oasis and then return home then these traders at the oasis that they gave their goods to would travel further to the next oasis to trade their new items. Over hundreds of years, the cause of the increase and decrease of travel and trade along the Silk Road was due to the conditions in the regions in which it passed through.
What were the motives for the interaction? The Silk Road primarily is used for trade and as a link between the Mediterranean, China, India, and Asia Minor. It is a very important path for cultural and technological transmission which linked the traders and the merchants. It helped in the development of many different countries because it was a significant factor in the ability to trade and transport goods to other countries. China needed a trade route in order to externally trade. The Silk Road was designed perfectly for this because it not only improved trade, but it also strengthened the relationship of China with other countries.
Effects on the economy and religion: Economy: The Silk Road brought in many merchants and traders to China which gave China a market to sell goods and make money. Silk was very popular and it was profitable which made China a lot of money. Religion: The Silk Road spread Buddhism throughout Central Asia along the Silk Road. It eventually united the people who traveled along.
