The Battle of the Bulge started on December 16, 1944 and ended on January 25, 1945. The battle lasted a total of 31 days.
The Battle of the Bulge got its name because the Germans drove into the Allied lines and their invasion lines formed a bulge.
Interesting Facts ~ The coldest, snowiest weather in the Ardennes Forest on the German/Belgium border. ~ Over a million men, 500,000 Germans, 600,000 Americans (more than fought at Gettysburg) and 55,000 British. ~ 800 tanks lost on each side ~ In total there were about 182000 killed, wounded, captured or missing ~ the Battle of the Bulge was the worst battle in terms of losses to the American forces in WWII
