The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the Mexican-American war. The Mexican-American war was going on because Mexico and the United States disagreed over the borders of the countries. Also the U.S. wanted Texas as a U.S. territory but Mexico didn't recognize Texas as an independent state. This was wasn't just taking place in Mexico and Texas, but in New Mexico, California, and Mexico City. To end this war, They created the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in the summer of 1847. it was signed and acknowledged on February 2, 1848. If it weren't for this document we wouldn't have over 5,000,000 square feet of land,
