Phoebe "She has this sort of red hair...she's only ten. She's quite skinny, but nice skinny. You'd like her" (67). I love my little sister Pheobe, I really do. We could chew the fat for hours. She sort of gives me a hard time for flunking and stuff but that's just how she is.
Stradlater "He always looked good when he was finished fixing himself up, but he was a secret slob anyways, if you knew him the way I did. Stradlater was a very sexy bastard" (29). Stradlater was my roommate at Pencey Prep. He was pretty handsome and popular and all, but he was a real bastard. He can be really sexy with girls though, I'll give him that much.
Mrs. Morrow "She was very good-looking. She didn't look like any dope to me. She looked like she might have a pretty damn dood idea what a bastard she was the mother of. She was all right"(54). I shot if for a while with Mrs. Morrow. I met her on the train, her son is Ernest Morrow, he has got to be the biggest bastard at Pencey. Almost everything I said to her was a lie but I liked talking to her I guess.
Ackley "I never even once saw him brush his teeth. They always looked mossy and awful. I wasn't too crazy about him, to tell you the truth." (19) If I had to pick one word to describe Ackley it would be 'NASTY'.He was my next-door neighbor at Pencey. He always used to barge in and make himself comfortable even though I always dropped HUGE hints that I want him to leave. I don't know though, I kinda feel bad for the kid.
Luce "He knew quite a bit about sex, especially perverts and all" (143). Luce is a bastard, but a pretty friendly one. He was a good guy to talk to, I mean he really had a good vocabulary. Once at the Wicker Bar I tried to talk to him about sex but he was being a real pain in the ass. He 's pretty phony though, I think he might be a flit. I don't know, maybe not, but I have my doubts.
Mr. Spencer "I used to think about old Spencer quite a lot, and if you thought about im too much, wondered what the heck he was still living for" (6). Mr. Spencer was my history teacher. Before I left Pencey, he wrote me a note asking me to stop by. I think he felt bad for flunking me because he started talking about my future and all this crap.
Allie "You'd have liked him. I slept in the garage the night he died, and I broke all the goddam windows with my fist, just for the hell of it." (38). My younger brother Allie was brilliant, he really was. I still carry around his baseball glove with me. He wrote poems all over it. I miss him a lot, he was a really nice kid. Probably nicer than everyone that is still alive.
D.B. "He's got a lot of dough, now. He didn't use to. Now he's out in Hollywood being a prostitue" (2). My older brother D.B. is a great writer. I really used to look up to him, but now he has become sort of a phony. He writes a bunch of movies and junk like that. Everyone who lives in Hollywood is a phony.
Mr. Antolini "He had on his bathrobe and slippers, and he had a highball in one hand. He was a pretty sophisticated guy"(181). Mr. Antonlini was an english teacher that I had at Elkton Hills (another lousy school I flunked). He's a pretty good guy. I once called him in the middle of the night and he helped me out when I needed a place to stay. He once tried telling me to find the right size of my mind and whatever, he was a really generous guy for going through all that trouble. I like him, you'd probably like him too.
Sally "She gave me a pain in the ass, but she was very good-looking" (106). Ol' Sally Hayes. What a catch. For as long as I've dated Sally, I've always thought she was very stupid. And she is sooooooo phony. She says words like 'grand' and has one of those loud, emarrassing voices. But I don't really care because she's so attractive.
Jane Gallagher "She wouldn't move any of her kings. I couldn't get her off my mind. I really couldn't" (32). I spent a lot of time with Jane one summer. We had summer houses next to each other in Maine. I really like Jane, she's a nice person to talk to. I just have to be in the mood to give her a call. I think about her a lot, though.
Lillian Simmons "She had very big knockers. Strictly a phony. I didn't like her much. Nobody did. You had to feel sort of sorry for her, in a way" ( 86). Lillian is DB's old girlfriend. Thank God she's his OLD girlfriend, too. She really annoys me, and she's very inconsiderate. I mean I had to leave the bar JUST because she was there.
