The US Constitution
Article I: oThe legislative branch has two chambers; the Senate and the House of Representatives. oTheir qualifications consist of being a citizen of the US for at least 7 years, being 25 or older to run for office and must be a resident of the state being elected in. oThe number of representatives per state is determined by 1 vote per 30 thousand people in each state. There are two Senates per state and the term they serve consists of six years. oThe Upper House of Congress’ president would be the Vice president. oThere are three ways to get a bill passed. Present it to the President (order). Reconsider the bill to where 2/3 agrees (resolution). And cast votes (vote). To get a bill passed without the president’s involvement, 2/3 of the Senate and the House of Representatives must agree in order for it to pass. oThe Powers of Congress are, 1. They have the power to lay and collect on taxes, duties and imports and excises to pay of the gov’t debt. 2. Borrow money from the US. 5. Come up with the worth and value of the home and foreign money. 8. Protect people creating discoveries and works of art. 11. They are allowed to declare war and make rules on capturing lands and water. oArticle 1, Section 8, Clause 18 states that all laws that are reasonable, necessary and proper will be executed by all parts of the gov’t.
Article II: oA president can only serve a term of four years unless reelected and will serve a term of eight years. oThe requirements for becoming president include being a natural born citizen, a fourteen year resident of the US and must be at least thirty-five to fun for president. oThe president powers of control are military, cabinet and pardons, along with making or disapproving treaties, and filling vacant office seats in our gov’t but only temporarily. oThe ways in which a president can be removes from office in by taking part in bribery, committing treason of other high crimes and misdemeanors.
Article III: oArticle three consists of the judicial branch in our gov’t. Including all courts in the country and nation. Such as the Supreme Courts and the States courts. When becoming a part of the judicial branch of gov’t and take a seat in the supreme courts you serve a term for life. Unless chosen to resin or retire or even die. Article VII: oIn article seven it talks about how our Constitution was established and how it was approved. In 1787 the constitution was finalized and was approved by 9 out of 13 states to agree it’s what was best for the people and our gov’t as we know it.
Overall Analysis: oFrom what it seems to look like, the Senate and House of Representatives have the most power even though the gov’t powers were created equal. oThe branch of gov’t that seems to have to least amount of power would be the judicial branch because it doesn’t state specific powers and duties to this area of our gov’t so the lines can possibly be crossed and they aren’t in depth of where those line are drawn. oI believe the Founding Fathers put the branches in the order that they did do to the fact that the legislative branch is covering a larger population and the control a lot more area. This is why I believe that the legislative branch has too much power to this day. With the economy being the way it is, people are taking what they want and not what they only need and its leaving less and less for the other people who do need it.
