Interaction with Native Americans
Conflicts
The Native American people were fully satisfied enough that they got the privaledge to trade with the Dutch/German majority of the population.
The Hudson River however had the most conflicts becasue it was always fought over. the Native Americans felt like they never got their share. The biggest examples were the territory wars. From 1626-1655 Fort Nassau, Fort Beversrede and Fort Casimir. All these forts were set up too defend their territory against the Swedes and Finns, but also against the Native Americans. If these civil wars were lost then territory would be lost also.
-Kiliaen van Rensselear: He was one of the most well known land owners of all New Netherland. His goal was to colonize his land and expand his buisness. Henry Hudson: He was an English explorer that went on four great voyages with his ship called 'half moon.' location 1: The Mohawk river was a source of great food to the Native Americans. Location 2: New York was the head quarters for New Netherlands. There is where most of the ships imported and ported riches, this is what attracted the Native Americans. Location 3; Manhatten was one of the most applauded settlements becasue of its close settlement to the Hudson River. The main export from that reign was fish, which the native Americans Benefited most from. Location 4: Brooklyn was the high power becasue they were the first to recieve (unload) imports from ship expeditions. What ever they got they could set any price they wanted on it.
- 1610: Henry Hudson attempted/succeeded in four Voyages across the Atlantic Ocean. -1610: The four Major Rivers (The Hudson, Conneticut and Delaware) were all made and agreed to be public/private. -1612: Henry Hudson named 'the river' The Hudson River. -1613: It is confirmed that the Hudson River is America's first largest river.
The Dutch economy was a periods of highs and lows just becase of what ever they found. Example, if the New York ship went out and caought no good fish then the settlement of Brooklyn would not get a good interest (pay) for that day. This encompases all of the entire east coast of North America becasue poultry was their main export, next was livestock.
Site of Interest
