The so-called 'Christmas Truce' was actually a series of unofficial cease-fires that took place along the Western Front around Christmas of 1914. Among the most famous was the meeting of British & German troops in the No Man's Land near Ypres, Belgium. Here, soldiers exchanged small gifts, sang carols, and held joint services before resuming to fight in the following days.
