DOUBLE REEDS the most common double reed instruments are the oboe and the bassoon . A lot of people have stopped playing these lovely instruments because a decent one will cost $1,900 to $2,500 and they are difficult to begin on . Modern double reed instruments are made of plastic, although most professional instruments will be made out of wood. reeds are also expensive because they must be handcrafted.
I am a beginner oboe player. I have been playing for over a year now, and have figured out most of it. I love playing it and figuring out new songs. i started playing in january of 2010 in band class. for the first year that i played, i had to teach myself the basics. Also, for the first year, I didnt know that the rented oboe i was playing was a piece of crap. But i now have a new oboe and it worksmuch better.
