The first blink of an eye, The first breath of air, Lost in innocent thought, Born without a care.
Blow out the candles, She's reached five now, Changing every day, Yet still smiling somehow.
Changing her school, and spreading her wings, Wishing life along, Dreams of diamond rings.
Sweet sixteen today, Giving into her peers, Leaving behind her, a family in tears.
Suddenly all around her, Her life's crashing down, The loss of her father, turns to gossip around town,
Grown up a little, Only six months on, Learning to hide better, her feelings from mom.
Moving on slowly, Each day as it comes, Wishing her life , was one of the other ones.
An adult today, Eighteen at last, Fake smiles to all Still living in the past.
Turning twenty one pretty soon, Facing down the aisle, Reaching out for her fathers hand, a teardrop falls to her smile.
A little bit missing, from life all the time, Leads to her driving, straight up to the line
Standing at the top, Waves crash below, Ready to jump, A few seconds to go.
With one foot over, Her head becomes clear. About what he would give, Just to be here
She quickly jumps back, Realising her fear, Life racing past, Moves the first true tear.
