Even if teenager are only 1/10 of the drivers, they are 30% of the deadly accidents.There are many factors involved in road accidents. High speed is a factor in more than 1/3 of the accidents, and 78% of those were male. Alcohol is th second factor of deadly accidents ; it is estimated than more than 34% of people killed were victims of alcohol related crash. According to the Criminal Code, driving with alcohol in the blood is a crime. A police officer can determine a driver is impaired even if he has less than 0,08% of alcohol in the blood.
Fortunately, seatbelts reduce the death or injury by 50%. Seatbelts work !
Other factors are :-Driver distraction-Driver impairment by tiredness, illness and drugs-Mechanical failure such as flat tire-Road conditions such as slippery road because of the rain -Road design and layout
