I am concerned about behavioral problems, and believe that educational psychology will help use proper strategies that are founded, and consistent.
Qualities that facilitate learning:
*Knowledgeable *Consistent in managing behavior *Fun and invested in our success *Challenging, but not unreasonable *Willing to answer our questions and admit it when they're incorrect *Creative with assignments *Treats students as people *Enforced participation so no one could doze off
I hope that by becoming more familiar with educational psychology I will be able to keep students interested in my lessons. I have questioned what will interest students, and think that know more in this field will help me.
By knowing more about researched methods, I can prepare myself to properly respond to authorities. I can also help justify my actions if they come under scrutiny if I have implemented the elements of educational psychology! I will not become a victim of "fads"!
*Reflection allows me to question: did I make myself clear? keep students engaged? meet my goals/objectives? If I keep challenging myself to reflect on my lessons, I can become better and more efficient. *Time is always in short supply, so on-the-spot reflection can be very useful. Keeping a journal on my desk will allow me to jot down ideas between lessons or class periods so I can better remember what I need to concentrate on when I have the time. *I will still need to ensure that I pencil in enough time afterschool or by myself to more thoroughly reflect on my day. On top of making time to challenge myself, I will also make sure to share my findings with other teachers. This will help keep me out of a rut and put my findings and ideas in perspective.
Importance of Reflection:
How will I respond under pressure from administrators???
