In 1913, Fitzgerald registered for Princeton. He became significant and important through his literature. While he was there, he fell in love with Ginevra King. He lost her however, and failed that year at Princeton.
Fitzgerald died when he was 44. At that time, his books were almost forgotten and were not remembered until the 1950's. His stories were republished and he is now known for his writing style and technique..
Francis Scott Fitzgerald was born as an only child on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul Minnesota. As a child, he was very bright and showed a particular interest in plays and poems.
The next few years were hard on the family. F. Scott began to drink more often and Zelda suffered from sporadic mental breakdowns from which she never recovered. The family grew apart and Fitzgerald was left by himself.
Frances, also called Scottie, was born to the Fitzgeralds in 1921. The family moved to Riviera in 1924. The next year, Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby.
In November of 1917, Fitzgerald joined the army. While he was stationed in Montgomery, Alabama in July 1918, he met Zelda Sayre. Fitzgerald became determined to become successful and to marry Zelda.
Later, in 1920, he married Zelda Sarye. In that same year, he had his first book, This Side of Paradise, published. This Side of Paradise is said to have made Fitzgerald famous.
