Want to kick off reading workshop with a booktalk? Think your students could use a lesson on evaluating websites before the research begins? Want to orient your freshmen to the library with a scavenger hunt? We are open for business starting in September – so get those requests in ASAP!
LFHS Library Newsletter August 2010
Library is Open for Business:
Booktalks and Lessons and Passes – oh my!
Speaking of requests, you can make them online through the library's web site. The Online Scheduler is for classrooms & library instruction. The AV Scheduler is for Flip & Kodak cameras.
And don’t forget about yellow passes! Freshmen and Sophomores still need yellow passes to enter the library during their study halls and lunches but this year, they can enter at any point in the lunch period, not just the first half. You can start writing passes on AUGUST 26th!
Our downloadable audiobook service is new and approved, complete with dozens of new titles! Overdrive audiobooks are now compatible with pretty much every device – you can even get an app for your iPhone or Droid!

The Magazines
Have a New Home!
26 teachers took part in our book club this summer – we had a blast! To find out more about the books we read and discussed, come to the library during the next 3 months and check out our front display cases where teachers will be putting up displays on their book of choice!
Admit it - did you even know we had them? No longer forced to hide behind the beautiful grand piano, feeling insecure and unappreciated, the magazines have risen to new heights, literally. You can now find them on the 2nd floor. Feel free to stop by, pick one up, and relax in a comfy chair by the window – you deserve it!
Book Clubs
Books & Breakfast will be back this year, but WE NEED YOUR HELP! Each month we’d like an LFHS teacher/staff member to choose the book. These book club discussions are a great opportunity to get to know students in another context and bond over a good (or bad!) book. Any volunteers? Just email us at lfhslibrary@lfschools.net.
