Water pollution is the addition of harmful chemicals to natural water which may have come from industrial waste, run-offs from fields treated with chemical fertilizers, and run-offs from areas that have been mined.
What is it?
Interesting Facts
Water Pollution
Water makes up 70 % of the earth surface and only 1 % is derived to be drinkable. There are two types of water pollutants, point and nonpoint sources - Point source is when harmful substances are emitted directly into a body of water as nonpoint source delivers pollutants indirectly through environmental changes. Most bodies of water that are near urban areas are highly polluted. Only 20% of the pollutants in oceans, rivers, bays, streams, lakes, and other bodies of water come from water based activities (i.e. cruise ships, a one week cruise yields more than a million gallons of grey water) the remaining 80% is derived from land based activities.
Water pollution kills life that inhabits water-based ecosystems like fish, birds, dolphins, and many other animals that often wind up on beaches, killed by pollutants in their habitat. Water shortage and contamination kills nearly 25,000 people every day
Effects on Environment and Humans
Reduce the amount of runoff that comes from your property. Maintain your vehicle. Minimize your use of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. Properly store and dispose of chemicals. Clean up pet waste. Pick up litter and properly dispose of trash.

Globalizations Impact and Involvement in Water Pollution
As the world’s population grows more natural resources are essential to enable prosperity and support peoples demanding needs.

With the majority of countries increasing industrialization and manufacturing comsumption levels are bound to mirror that pursuit. As the movie The 11th Hour touched on human priorities, the environment did not or just barely make the list. So the current road to success that many will or long to travel is taken with a funnelled veiw of the straight ahead, giving ignorance to what grows in the ditches of it.
