P.E.A. In the novel I read “hunger of memory” the author Richard Rodriguez beliefs were very simple, religion and education but he seemed to value education more than anything. There were many situations where he expressed himself about the importance of education. The reason he believed so much in it was because his parents pushed him into it telling him and his brothers that they need to get an education so they don’t get pushed around like the poor. “My mother said she was glad her children were getting their education and wouldn’t be pushed around like los pobres”. (pg.137) his parents didn’t want anybody to think they were better than them because they were Hispanic and they saw education as their escape rout of being seen less because of their culture. On his way of getting his education he seemed to have lost his culture and family ties. “Do not punish yourself for having to give our culture in order to make it.” (pg.192) he seemed to be ok with giving up all of that as long as he accomplished what he was always tout to. The author seems to hold those beliefs because he didn’t want people thinking he was only good at doing hard labor jobs just because he’s Hispanic it seemed like he had to prove to everyone they weren’t right. I don’t hold the same beliefs I don’t feel like I have to prove myself to anyone if they feel that way and want to think that way than there welcome to poster yourself
