Salat-Ritual Prayer 5 times a day (info. islamic prayer-when the worshiper stands, bows, kneels, and prostrates while reciting verses from the Qur'an and some other prayer formulas) This is the 2nd pillar of Islam, which is called Salat, which is the religious job to pray 5 times a day in a mosque. All muslim adults are supposed to perform 5 prayers, after ritual cleansing of the body at the ablution fountain (something in a mosque where muslims washed some of their body parts) at different times of the day. The five times of prayer are these times: dawn (fajr or subh), noon (zuhr), midafternoon (asr), sunset (maghrib), and evening (isha). The prayers don't start exactly on these times, instead, it starts right after. The Qur'an also mentions the actions of praying-standing, bowing, and lying flat on the ground during prayers and facing the Ka'aba, which is east. The mihrab, a part of mosque that indicates which direction faces the Ka'aba,is what the muslims would face during prayer. A little bit before dawn, a muslim would announce the call to prayer on the minaret, which is a part of a mosque which is a tower where someone calls that it's time to pray. Then all muslims would join the time of prayer. The Friday noon prayer is led by the imam, which simply is a prayer leader. This is the Friday congregational prayer, which is special.
GO MUSLIMS!!!!
Zakat-Alms, or Charity (benefits for the needy) This is the 3rd pillar of Islam, which is called the Zakat, which means Alms or Charity in Arabic. This is a religious obligation, so Zakat is considered to be an expression of devotion to God. It represents the attempt to provide useful things and food to the poorest sections of society. It offers a means for a muslim to purify his/her wealth and money. The Qur'an strongly encourages charity and always reminds muslims of their respectful commitment to the poor, orphans, and widows. So muslims basically donate things to charity.
5 Pillars of Islam
Sawm-Fasting (during the month of Ramadan) This is the 4th pillar of Islam, which is called Sawm, or fasting. The Qur'an prescribes the fasting during the month of Ramadan, an Islamic month, that changes time every year. For the entire month, the muslims must fast from daybreak to sunset by refraining from eating or drinking any edible products, and aavoid any sexual contact. Muslims usually do further actions beyond the usual during the month of Ramadan, like night prayer, paying voluntary charity to the poor or needy, and reading parts from the Qur'an. If the muslims know they will grow insanely hungry during fasting, they would eat before the fasting starts, which is early morning, or before sunrise. This is how they fast.
Hajj-Pilgrimage to Mecca The hajj is the 5th pillar of Islam, and has many stages. Hajj is basically a pilgrimage. the first step is to circle the holy shrine in Mecca, which is the Ka'aba, seven times counter-clockwise. Next, go around the hills of As-Safa and Al-Marwah to commemorate the desparate search of food and water by Hagar, one of Abraham's wives. Then the muslims go to the city of Mina and they'll find tents there so they can stay overnight. this concludes Day 1 of hajj. After that, they go to Mt. Arafat, known as the mountain of forgiveness, to pray for the whole day. Then in stage 5, the muslims go to Muzdalifah to collect stones for the next stage. this concludes Day 2. Now in this stage, they go back to Mina to stone the devil by going to the Jamarat Bridge, which is actually a five-story with ramps and towers and holds 3 pillars. The tallest pillar gets stoned by the muslims. Skipping all the way to stage 9, they return to Mecca and circle the Ka'aba seven more times. And to stage 11, they go back to Mina. End of Day 3, and Days 4-5 they stone the devil again and circle the Ka'aba seven more times to conclude hajj.
Shahada-Faith The first pillar of Islam is called the Shahada, which is faith in Arabic. Shahada is known as the proffesion of faith. This pillar is mainly about worshiping Allah, God in Arabic. Shahada is also the proclamation that, "There is no true god except Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah". Shahada also states that Allah is the one and only true God, and that Allah alone is worthy of worship. All this means that all of Allah himself's rules and laws written in the Qur'an are to be followed. Muhammad is the true and greatest prophet of Allah and Islam. So Shahada is basically the muslims' faith in Allah and Muhammad, and muslims would worship and venerate them.

I like this. It's a bit overly animated, but it's pretty cool!
