In the Civil War: 1861-1865 many large American cities- New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Chicago, and San Fransisco were goverened by Irish Americans.
The Irish Americans were the most succesful ethic group in North America today. They land in America in the 19th century.
Over 900,000 Irish American imigrated, in 1851 to 1920 and another 3,300,000 came over to america.
When the Irish americans came to the new land they faced a difficult task.. When arrived they had to cut down trees, build cabins, round up farm animals, and provide imediate need as clothing and food.
Irish catholics were consisted supporters fpr the democratic party from 1840's onward. They also built thousand of churches across the country.
