The Mandolin is made of wood, and different types of strings, including gut, nylon, and steel. it is mainly used in bluegrass music, but was once a part of spritual praises.
Instruments related to the mandolin include the banjo, cittern, steelguitar, and the lute.
The Mandolin has been popular in several different venues and arenas of music performance during it's lifetime. It is important in Bluegrass of course, but also was used in street bands, seranades, chamber orchestras, and folk music.
