The Trouble with
Half a Moon

In the book, The Trouble with Half a Moon, Delilah, also known as Dellie, thinks that it is her fault that her brother, Louis dies. One day she finds a kid named Corey and he is always hungry because his mom never feeds him. Dellie secretly took care of Corey until her parents found put. Her parents ended up loving Corey. Dellie hoped that she could do what she couldn't do for her brother-SAVE HIM. When Dellie found out that Corey's mom left hime, she took care of him until she talked to Miss Sandra who helped keep an eye on Corey because his mom acted like she didn't even want kids. Miss Sandra had to take Corey to a foster home. Dellie wansn't allowed to take care of him anymore, because her family wasn't considered a, ''foster family,'' and in order to becaome foster parents, you would neeed to go through a lot of paperwork. This is what happened in the book, The Trouble with Half a Moon.
The theme in the book, The Trouble with Half a Moon, is that you should always take care of others and don't be selfish. An example from the book, is on page 162, Dellie suggests that they should let Corey borrow some of Louis's clothes before he passed away. So, never be selfish and make sure that you think about others.
Delilah- A.K.A. Dellie... A 13 year-old girl who is devastated when he rbrother dies and thinks that it is her fault. She is one of the people who took care of Corey.
Corey- A 6 year-old boy who moved into Dellie's apartment and his mother and boyfriend left him. Dellie and Miss Sandra became his owners for a little bit.
Miss Sandra- Helps Corey's mom take care of him because she knowns that Corey's mother doesn't treat him with respect.
Corey's Mom- A rude person and she left her son, Corey.
Dellie's Parents- Help take care of Corey after their son died.
Louis- Dellie's brother who passed away when he was 5.
The setting of the book is in the appartment buildings in a bad area of the author's hometown, Brooklyn, New York. On page 2, it mentioned that they heard gunshots which is why the area of the town was not very good and it was a little dangerous. This is where the book took place.
The internal conflict was on page 22 when Dellie had a dream and she believed that her brother's death was her fault. Therefore, it was an internal conflict because it was all in her head.
