Demeter is the Earth Goddess (also goddess of fertility). Giver of grains, fruits, life and death, and marriage. . She taught man how to sew and also how to plow. Demeter was around during the 7th century B.C. Before she was renowned an Olympian she was known as "bringer of seasons".
DEMETER !
Demeter is the daughter of Cronus and Rhea. She also had a brother, Zeus. Demeter had a child, Persephone. When Hades had abducted Persephone, Demeter searched the entire Earth wandering aimlessly looking for her poor child. While on this search the Earth wasn't producing any grains which was a great problem. Zues got brother Hermes to go down to the underworld and capture Persephone back! Before exiting hell, Hades gave Hermes a pomegranate. That pomegranate changed the Earth's cycle. Demeter would only let nature grow when she was with Persephone, and when she wasn't nature would be dead.
