BLACK DEATH Also known as the Black Plague, the Black Death was one of the deadliest pandemics in history. This plague lasted from 1347-1351 killing more than 75 million people. Some historians believe the plague originated in China or Central Asia. Some also believe the plague may have been caused by a bacterium that spread through rats and flies. People with the plague usually had high fevors, blood within the lungs, and usually died within 3 days. Rashes were also found on the skin.. Many people used prayor and medicine in order to stop the spread of the plague. Due to no knowledge of the cause of the plague, many people killed animals in order to stop the spread. Even after the plague ended, there were multiple outbreaks every 10 to 15 years.

EFFECT ON ECONOMY Due to the many deaths of the Black plague, the economy was hit very hard. With deaths of valuble skills, the working class became a necesity. Therefore, those who had skills became very valuable. Serfs and laborers began to seek higher wages becuase their work was very rare. The Black Death was now killing another victim, the economy,
EFFECT ON ART Before the Black Death, music and art represented joy and happiness; however, during these rough times, sorrow was the only thing that could be sung or drawn about. Music began to be rarely heard and art became grim and depressing. The art and music reflected the world around them.
