Salvador Edward Luria
-Born : Turin, Italy, on August 13, 1912 -Died : Lexington, Massachusetts, on 6th February, 1991 -Schools : University of Turin, University of Rome, Columbia University, Indiana University, University of Illinoise at Urbana-Champaign, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. -Quick Note : Salvador was a jew, and barely exscaped the Holocaust by riding his bike from Paris to Marseilles in 1940, later recieving an immigration visa to live and study in the USA.

Accomplishments: -Instructor of Bacteriology at Indiana University -Head of Microbiology Department at MIT -Apointed director of MIT's Cancer research center -Luria and Delbruck, a fellow scientist, found that viruses did spontaneous genetic mutations which was responsible for their bacteria resistance: this discover was the basis for the discovery of DNA and the Double-Helix. -Won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1969 with fellow scientist Delbruck and Hershy for revealing the mechanics of virus replication

I think Mr.Luria is an amazing person who was dedicated and determined throughout his life. His discoveries are amazing, and eventually led to the discovery of DNA. If it weren't for him I'm sure it would have taken many more years for that accomplishment. He made a scientific discovery that changed everyones lives. He definitly deserved the Nobel Prize.
