Egg Drop Eggstravaganza! Sarah .F Physics-C
The purpose of the egg drop expiriment was to construct an egg case in order to determine if it could increase the time of impact and allow the egg to survive it's plumit to the ground due to gravity. Not only does this project give students a better understanding of science, but it also opens their eyes to real life situations dealing with momentum, impact, and impulse.
My egg case is constructed from an organic fruit juice box, moss, and cotton balls. The moss and cotton balls are located inside the box to increase the time of impact on the egg when it descends from the bleachers. It is pictured below.
This project was created in order to demonstrate how to increase the time of impact on an object and to learn more about momentum. Egg cases of all shapes and sizes were created in order to protect the egg when it fell from the bleatchers and increase the time of impact on the object.
Intro Paragraph
My Egg Case
Purpose
Did It Break?
No, the egg did not break. The moss and cotton balls inside my egg box were able to increase the time of impact on the egg, and decrease the force of impact. However, all of the eggs had the same change of momentum and the same velocity because they were all dropped from the same height and hadthe same weight. By increasing the time of impact on the egg, the shell of the egg was unable to break.

Audio Reflection:
The video above gives more information about momentum, impact, and impulse.
Vocab Defined
Momuntum: the product of the mass and velocity of an object. Impact: is a force Impulse: the product of force and time interval during which a force acts
